At the End of the Day

When you love others and have built your life around them, you become so invested in their well-being that there's often a risk of losing your calm, your peace if anything goes awry in their lives. On a day like today, I actually end up believing that I feel too much.

With my heart on my sleeves, I find myself pushing everyone else forward, cheering them on to keep the faith, trying to encourage them beyond now, beyond what they see. After all, that is what faith is all about. Faith reaches out knowing that God has it all under control. The lesson- no matter how much the sun shines, it cannot, will not force us to bask in it. You are not responsible for someone else's optimism or faith.

At the end of the day, when I've done all I can, I must summon the courage to let them be.  At the end of the day, I owe it to myself to trust the good work I've done, to take a deep breath, and rest well.
